Lisette Blythe: Writing Black Women on the Cusp of Greatness

Lisette Blythe is an author on a mission to bring unique and compelling stories to life, focusing on Black women who are on the verge of greatness. Published under Three Fortnights Press, a boutique publisher based in Louisiana, Lisette writes New Adult romance novels where the female main character is always Black. Her stories resonate deeply with readers, providing representation and relatability for those who may not often see themselves in print.

Lisette's advice to those struggling to pursue their dreams is profound and encouraging: "It is okay to take a step back to reassess what it is you want to do. In doing that, you may gain the clarity in your dreams that has eluded you." Her motivation for writing comes from a desire to represent the "weird Black woman" who might be neurodivergent or obsessed with someone in a way that others don't understand. She wants these women to see themselves in her books and feel loved for who they are, not despite their uniqueness but because of it.

One of Lisette's greatest accomplishments in her career is having readers tell her they relate to her characters. In her personal life, a significant moment was when her daughter, who loves to read, realized that her mother is an author. However, Lisette's journey has not been without challenges. Writing something personal and sharing it with the world requires immense courage, and there are days when she feels like hiding. Nonetheless, she pushes through, knowing that people genuinely enjoy her books.

Looking to the future, Lisette is excited about the release of her Sorority Rejects series. "Glory" is currently available, with "Moira" set to release in September, "Nadine" in December, and "Wren" in March. After that, she plans to return to her original series, A Year of Change, with Maliah's graduate degree story.

No longer a new author, Lisette Blythe is making her dreams a reality. As a child, she grew up writing but chose a career in IT instead. Now, she's embracing everything she loves unabashedly. Her writing is a love letter to herself and to women who look like her and may not be neurotypical as they navigate their daily lives. Lisette's accolades include being a Best Romance Nominee for the Imadjinn awards.
